Boost Mobile recently released a new $2 per day pay as you go plan that provides you with unlimited voice, messaging, and web for a period of 24 hours.

This may seem like an odd development considering Boost Mobile’s Monthly Unlimited plan only costs $50, but as the Prepaid Review blog points out, selling the “unlimited” plan at at piecemeal rate of $2 per day, is something like a regressive tax.

In other words, it’s for people who can’t afford to pay the $50 up front at the beginning of the month.

Or maybe there is a segment of people who simply would rather “pay as they go” even if it means they spend $60 per month rather than $50.

Emotion and personal viewpoints always factor into purchasing decisions, so it’s no surprise that people will choose to pay more in order to pay in the way they would prefer.

But I also agree that this is an attempt in some ways to attract people who may not be able to afford an upfront $50 payment for their unlimited Boost Mobile plan, and maybe an attempt to just gain some traction with the excitement of a $2 per day unlimited plan.

We will see how this pans out. One thing is for sure and that is that there is no shortage of attractive prepaid phone plans out there.

A lot of people every single day are interested in finding ways to cut their overall expenses. The gym membership invariably gets the axe, things like lattes get cut, and then there are the cell phones.

People begin to realize they don’t want to spend as much on their cell phone bills as they had previously. It makes sense. If you want to save money on your cell phone bill, a prepaid phone is a good way.

Prepaid phones tend to cost less than their contract counterparts, and since there are no contracts, you don’t have to stay with the company you choose if you don’t want to. It’s an interesting thing.

Minutes tend to cost less as well. Prepaid plans–and there are many of them–may save you money. Just the fact that there are so many plans bodes well for you in your search because it means there is solid competition, which will bring prices down.

Prepaid cell phone plans make sense for a lot of people for a few reasons, listed below.

1) The phones tend to be affordable or downright cheap. This is a good way to save money, but it also means you may have to sacrifice having a hot new phone.

2) You can have more control over how many minutes of talk time you use every month.

3) You have no contract, which means if you want to stop using your prepaid phone, all you have to do is stop paying. You can also then sell your phone on eBay.

Some of the top prepaid providers are Net10, Straight Talk, TracFone, Common Sense Mobile, Boost Mobile, and MetroPCS. You get some choices.

Some of the top prepaid plans out there are from net10, Straight Talk, and TracFone. Some of the recent phones have been Android prepaid phones, which are really nice. Read about the new Straight Talk Android phones, the Net 10 Android phones, and the Virgin Mobile Android cell phones.

A few of the top prepaid phone players out there are TracFone, Straight Talk, and Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile recently released the very well received Motorola Triumph Android phone, which critics have praised a ton since it came out. Another big piece of news in the prepaid world is the release of Straight Talk’s first Android handset, the Samsung Precedent. This phone is not only an Android phone that downloads apps and does all the things contract android phones do, it also comes with the Unlimited Straight Talk plan (only $45/month for unlimited text, talk, and web).

See all details of this phone at StraightTalk.com

You might also want to check out the most recent deal from TracFone. Right now, you can get double minutes for life for free with the purchase of any phone–and you can even get triple minutes for life on two or three phones on this promotion right now.

See all details at TracFone.com

Virgin’s latest Android release, the Triumph is a very nice phone. Some are calling it the best prepaid phone out right now. I don’t know if this is true, but it does have some great attributes, like its beautiful screen and clear connection ability. If you’re interested in the Motorola Triumph ($299 without a contract) have a look at it at the official website for Virgin.

Get this phone at VirginMobile.com

Prepaid cell phones have truly never been more popular than they are today. Spurred on by a weak economy with a lot of penny-pinchers, companies have had to do more to compete for business.

One way wireless companies have started to compete is by offering more affordable plans–plans without the lucrative 2-year mandatory contract. This is the only reason companies have contracts: profits. It allows cell phone carriers to spend more to get customers (ie with advertising, etc) when they know they will have them tied up for two years.

With prepaid phones, the company better offer good service or else a customer can easily move right on to the next one with no fear or a termination fee or anything like that. Prepaid phones have no contracts and for that reason they allow for more flexibility. Furthermore, in general, you pay for the minutes you use.

Services like TracFone give you a lot of leeway over the minutes you purchase and use. Straight Talk has two plans that are very attractive. Net10 has some of the cheapest deals in the business. And MetroPCS is moving on up.

There are a lot of prepaid deals out there, so keep your eyes open and find a good one. Read a few of the articles on this site about prepaid phones–there are a lot of them and they should help give you a better handle on the top dogs and what they have to offer.

Good luck.

Net10 Cell Phones Save Money for Most Customers

Net10 has some very good deals for those people who want an affordable prepaid phone plan. The name “Net10″ comes from the fact that every minute of talk time costs 10 cents. Text messages cost the same as do minutes spent on web browsing.

See all the Net10 plans at www.net10.com

How Do Net10 Cell Phones Work?

Net10 phones are prepaid, so you pay ahead of time for your talk time. As you use your phone, minutes are deducted from your total.

When you begin your plan with Net10, you generally get 300 minutes of talk time to use over a period of 60 days. But at the end of that period of time, you don’t lose your minutes. They will actually carry over into the next month. But you need to know that you do have to add minutes to your card before the 60 day period expires. This way you keep your phone active and get to use all of the Net10 minutes you paid for.

Why Should I Buy a Net10 Prepaid Cell Phone?

If you use approximately 150 minutes a month, Net10 cell phones makes a lot of sense. Even if you use more talk time, it still makes a lot of sense for a lot of people since 10 cents a minute is very affordable, you will just refill your phone when you need more time.

Net10 phones are affordable and talk time is inexpensive. One of the coolest features of Net10 cell phone is that when you turn your phone on, you can see how much talk time you have left on your current cycle. It’s a good thing because it helps you keep track of how many minutes you have left before you need to refill.

Toward the end of the month, you will know if you need to use fewer minutes a day or if you have a lot to burn.

Net10 Prepaid Phones Have No Contracts

You don’t have to sign a contract in order to use a Net10 phone. Since this is the case, there are no commitments and no “contract breakage” fees, which are a total joke in my opinion.

Net10 Cell Phones Give You More Control of Your Wireless Service

Since you buy minutes when you need them, you have more control over your service. You do have to refill every 60 days, but this is not a bad thing. You will easily be able to keep track of your phone use so you can be smarter in how you spend your minutes.

See all the Net10 phones and plan at www.net10.com or read another review of Net10 service for more details.

Current TracFone Phone Deals….

I wrote this a long time ago and I’m updating it now. Screw eBay–don’t waste your time looking for a TracFone deal over there. Too many people I know have gotten burned buying a phone from eBay. Try the official TracFone site or Amazon for the best TracFone deal online.

Right now there are two phones at the TracFone website that come with triple minutes for life. Several of the other phones come with double minutes for life even if you can’t get the first deal mentioned here. There’s some great things happening over at TracFone.com (have a look)

Straight Talk, TracFone’s other company, has a brand new smart phone that has people talking. It’s the first Android for TracFone Straight Talk and is a really nice touch screen phone that download apps.

eBay is well-known as a pretty amazing marketplace where you can find some very good deals on millions of goods, from cars to dolls. You can also find some pretty good deals on TracFone prepaid phones on eBay.

More TracFone Deals:

Motorola V170 Phone + 60 Minutes of Talk Time for $19.99

Motorola 376G Phone + double minutes for life for $19.99 (probably the better deal)
