This may seem like an odd development considering Boost Mobile’s Monthly Unlimited plan only costs $50, but as the Prepaid Review blog points out, selling the “unlimited” plan at at piecemeal rate of $2 per day, is something like a regressive tax.

In other words, it’s for people who can’t afford to pay the $50 up front at the beginning of the month.

Or maybe there is a segment of people who simply would rather “pay as they go” even if it means they spend $60 per month rather than $50.

Emotion and personal viewpoints always factor into purchasing decisions, so it’s no surprise that people will choose to pay more in order to pay in the way they would prefer.

But I also agree that this is an attempt in some ways to attract people who may not be able to afford an upfront $50 payment for their unlimited Boost Mobile plan, and maybe an attempt to just gain some traction with the excitement of a $2 per day unlimited plan.

We will see how this pans out.  One thing is for sure and that is that there is no shortage of attractive prepaid phone plans out there.

Prepaid cell phones have truly never been more popular than they are today.  Spurred on by a weak economy with a lot of penny-pinchers, companies have had to do more to compete for business.

One way wireless companies have started to compete is by offering more affordable plans–plans without the lucrative 2-year mandatory contract.  This is the only reason companies have contracts: profits.  It allows cell phone carriers to spend more to get customers (ie with advertising, etc) when they know they will have them tied up for two years.

With prepaid phones, the company better offer good service or else a customer can easily move right on to the next one with no fear or a termination fee or anything like that.  Prepaid phones have no contracts and for that reason they allow for more flexibility.  Furthermore, in general, you pay for the minutes you use.

Services like TracFone give you a lot of leeway over the minutes you purchase and use.  Straight Talk has two plans that are very attractive.  Net10 has some of the cheapest deals in the business.  And MetroPCS is moving on up.

There are a lot of prepaid deals out there, so keep your eyes open and find a good one.  Read a few of the articles on this site about prepaid phones–there are a lot of them and they should help give you a better handle on the top dogs and what they have to offer.

How Do Net10 Cell Phones Work?

Net10 phones are prepaid, so you pay ahead of time for your talk time.  As you use your phone, minutes are deducted from your total.

When you begin your plan with Net10, you generally get 300 minutes of talk time to use over a period of 60 days.  But at the end of that period of time, you don’t lose your minutes.  They will actually carry over into the next month.  But you need to know that you do have to add minutes to your card before the 60 day period expires.  This way you keep your phone active and get to use all of the Net10 minutes you paid for.

Why Should I Buy a Net10 Prepaid Cell Phone?

If you use approximately 150 minutes a month, Net10 cell phones  makes a lot of sense.  Even if you use more talk time, it still makes a lot of sense for a lot of people since 10 cents a minute is very affordable, you will just refill your phone when you need more time.

Net10 phones are affordable and talk time is inexpensive.  One of the coolest features of Net10 cell phone is that when you turn your phone on, you can see how much talk time you have left on your current cycle.  It’s a good thing because it helps you keep track of how many minutes you have left before you need to refill.

Toward the end of the month, you will know if you need to use fewer minutes a day or if you have a lot to burn.

Net10 Prepaid Phones Have No Contracts

You don’t have to sign a contract in order to use a Net10 phone.  Since this is the case, there are no commitments and no “contract breakage” fees, which are a total joke in my opinion.

Net10 Cell Phones Give You More Control of Your Wireless Service

Since you buy minutes when you need them, you have more control over your service.  You do have to refill every 60 days, but this is not a bad thing.  You will easily be able to keep track of your phone use so you can be smarter in how you spend your minutes.
