AT&T and Sprint 3G Nexus Ones In the Works

AT&T and Sprint look like they both may be working on Nexus One versions of their own.

At the moment, Nexus One only supports 3G on T-Mobile, not for any other carrier in the U.S.  It supports AT&T Edge, but more variety is always a good thing.  Nexus One has turned out to be a nice phone that promotes a great user experience.

AT&T Offers Free Samsung Solstice Cell Phone with New Plan

samsung-solstice-1

Samsung Solstice sort of a sequel to the Samsung Eternity. It has a touchscreen--a nice one--but is not a smartphone. It is also easier to maintain and will cost you less over time than certain other smartphones for AT&T.

It has touchwiz navigation on the left of the screen, which allows you to do whatever you need to do on the phone from the touchscreen.

Samsung Solstice is much smaller than the iPhone and boasts a slim, sleek design. It is an unabashed feature phone and can do all the things you would expect out of this kind of phone.  Sound quality has been reported to be very good.

While Solstice is a nice looking phone that does everything you would expect out of a feature-rich, widget-friendly touchscreen phone, one criticism I have come across a few times is that it is not the best phone to watch videos on.

samsung-solstice-2

Another criticism I have read is that the battery life is not that great.  But you have to consider other 3g devices with rich features in order to do a proper comparison, and most 3g phones have less than great battery sustainability.

The full touchscreen keyboard (with haptic response) is actually very responsive and easy to use.  It's never fun to type on a screen that doesn't respond well.  This phone has a surprisingly effective virtual keypad for such a small phone.

All in all, Samsung Solstice is a good foray into touchscreen phones for someone who has never had one before.  It's also very cool that you can get this phone for free with a new plan from AT&T.

Through LetsTalk, you can get this phone, which retails at $299, for free.  It looks like this deal ends on Monday, January 25, but it may last longer.

If you are interested in a wireless plan from AT&T and want a fun touchscreen feature phone, have a look at this deal.

Feature Roundup:

Finger-touch phone with a large touch screen (3.0” QVGA display)

3G data

GPS navigation, 2 mp camera

Stereo Bluetooth

Verizon and AT&T Wireless in Price War

Verizon Wireless and AT&T are heating up a price war that takes things even further than the iPhone/Droid wars would have led people to believe.

Well, not quite.  Industry experts probably envisioned a price war ensuing between the two ultra-competitive wireless service providers.

Verizon lowered the price of its unlimited family talk and text plan to $149.99 (from $229.99!!), which is a huge savings.  I'm sure current Verizon subscribers were happy to see this change occur.

The company also lowered its unlimited nationwide voice plan by $30 (from $99.99 to $69.99).

AT&T plans to make serious price cuts as well.  Things are definitely heating up in the postpaid as well as the prepaid universe.  This puts even more pressure on companies like Straight Talk Wireless and Boost Mobile, which have both been cutting out nice niches as affordable (prepaid) wireless companies.

Verizon Chief Financial Officer John Killian called this move "offensive," in that it's about "market opportunity."

AT&T Offers Samsung Impression Phone + $50 Gift With New Plan

samsung-impression-att

You may be wondering if you read the headline correctly...

Can you really get a free Samsung Impression cell phone plus $50 in cash from AT&T with a new plan?

The answer is, yes, yes you can. AT&T, if you purchase a plan through the popular cell phone website LetsTalk, will literally pay you to buy the phone. How about that for a deal?

Well, you do have to sign up for a two-year AT&T service plan of $49.99 per month or more--but if you are going to do this anyway, you might consider getting your hands on this phone if you like it.

You will immediately get a discount of $149.99 and a mail-in rebate of $50. So you basically get a free phone and $200 of savings. That's like four months of your contact, a third of a year, paid for you.

samsung-impression

It's really a pretty good deal if you are a possible AT&T subscriber. Let's get into the details of the phone.

Samsung Impression for AT&T has a 3.2 400x240 AMOLED touchscreen, which promises a bright, vivid display that is not going to drain your battery every hour. You will feel haptic response as you touch the screen.

The Impression has a nice pull-out QWERTY keyboard that makes texting a breeze--because who likes to send text via touchscreen? This feature-rich phone also integrates web browsing very well into the experience.

This phone is primarily a messaging phone, so if you text frequently, you will enjoy this phone.  Another bonus is that you don't have to pay for a data plan, since this phone doesn't require it.

Check availability of this phone in your area and see how you can get paid to buy this phone at LetsTalk.com
