Samsung R451C Phone Review

The Samsung R451c phone is a good phone model and is predominantly featured with prepaid phone providers. This is because the phone is a good middle of the road option that will not break the bank but also will not leave people wanting much more out of their cell phone. It’s no smart phone, but everyone does not need (or even want) a smart phone and the high prices that often come with this kind of phone.

Carriers that have Samsung R451C

The r451c model is available from Straight Talk. A version of the phone is also available from TracFone. This phone facilitate easy texting due to its slide out full qwerty keypad.

Samsung r451c features a 1.3 megapixel camera, which will do the trick and take pictures although with no frills.

You can also listen to mp3s on this phone, which is pretty much a ubiquitous feature on cell phones and is almost not worth mentioning. Still, it’s good to know that the music function is there and is also complemented by bluetooth stereo.

Straight Talk Smart Phones (Sidebar Before your Scheduled Programming…)

Before we move on to the “pros” of this phone, I have a quick update about Straight Talk. There are now two new Android smart phones that are available with the Unlimited plan at great prices. You can find both of them online at StraightTalk.com.

They are the Samsung Precedent Android (pictured to the left) and the LG Optimus Q. There is also a new Android phone coming soon, so look out for the LG Optimus X, which boosts 4G speeds and has a gorgeous look to it.

In other news, the Nokia E5 has been reduced in price and now costs $149 as opposed to its former $199. The 6790 is available for only $49 for a refurbished handset, which is a very good price and the lowest I’ve ever seen this phone. Overall, Straight Talk is doing some good things!

Back to the Samsung r451c!

Pros

This phone has a 2.1 inch display, which is just big enough. Another plus is the phone’s expandable memory slot that can hold up to 16 gb, which is a good thing if you plan to store a lot of photos and music on your cell phone. Browsing the internet is made easy with the interior screen and can only be activated when the phone is slid open, avoiding any accidental web browsing which will use up your data.

The Samsung r451c reviews show that the phone has good signal reception and good data transfer rates. You can also use mp3 ringtones with this phone. Overall, this phone is a good option for Net10 and Straight Talk users because it has a mixture of the right functions and a nice look. It doesn’t ‘scream’ prepaid phone, which is something I know people like to avoid.

Samsung R451C Cons

No Samsung r451c review would be complete without covering both pros and cons. So here are some of the negative attributes of this phone. Every phone has both good and bad things and there is no perfect phone. It’s up to you to decide what you want out of your phone and what you don’t want. These are based on opinion, which means that you may have a totally different perspective on whether or not these are downsides or plusses.

The Samsung r451c is slightly bulky. This isn’t a terrible thing–but in this day and age of small, smooth looking phones, the r451c is slightly larger at 4.4″ long and 2″ wide.

The phone does not have a video recording function, although it does have a 1.34 mp camera. If you care about java software on your prepaid phone, you’re out of luck because you can’t load it on this phone. You cannot access FM radio either, so if you’re a radio listener this phone may not be the one for you.

Straight Talk Free Phones

There are some free phone offers you can take advantage of at the official website. Customers can get one of these phones for free with the purchase of a one month Straight Talk plan (either the $30 All You Need Plan or the $45 Unlimited plan). They may not be the most flashy phones and they may seem like slightly older models, but you know what, if you’re looking to save money and don’t need all the glitz and glamor of a prepaid smart phone, then one of these free phones might be what the doctor ordered.

At the moment there are two free phones, but this changes quite often with Straight Talk. But one of the cool things about this brand is that you can generally always find at least one free phone deal going on at any time, and it’s usually a selection of like two or three phones.

If you’re not interested in one of these phones, then have a look at Nokia E5, Samsung Galaxy Precedent, LG Optimus Q, and the newest smart phone to come from Straight Talk, LG Optimus X (which looks like it might be the best phone ever from this company).

I think that this deal is currently not running, but I did notice that there are two free phones being offered on the official website (in my region). The reason I say in my region is because sometimes there are different phones an different offers in different areas of the country. So the free Straight Talk phones I see may not be the same ones you see when you go to the website where they are clearly displayed and marked alongside the other phones in the lineup. Right now, I see the lg 420g phone for free with one month of talk time purchase and the Motorola w418g reconditioned for free with one month of talk time purchase as well. They will probably be different in your area but have a look.
