I recently came across a Finesse handset on sale at Amazon for $50.  It is one of the older MetroPCS versions, but I still thought I would mention that there is a Finesse r810c available for purchase.  Maybe you just want to have one or maybe you can flash it and use it on the carrier of your choice.  Call it nostalgia, but I still think the Samsung Finesse is a cool phone.

I don’t really think that Straight Talk will ever bring back or “resurrect” the Samsung Finesse r810c, but it really does amaze me how many people seem to love this phone.  Whether they used the good looking touch screen phone with Metro PCS or with Straight Talk, it never ceases to surprise me how popular the Samsung Finesse seems to be (or was).  And it’s probably very easy for some of the cell phone freaks out there to disparage the Finesse and point out its weaknesses or contribute to the debate over whether or not the Finesse was really a smart phone, but at the end of the day, all that matters is what an individual gets out of his or her phone.

The Samsung Finesse was a very beloved cell phone probably because it was one of the nicest smart phones to be available as a prepaid phone.  It was used on Metro PCS and then on Straight Talk.  Unfortunately, the Finesse is no longer for sale on Straight Talk or Metro PCS, but apparently it’s memory lives on.  So will Straight Talk be brining back the Finesse r810c for all of its devoted fans?  Probably not.  But can we hope for some nice high end smart phones?  If the direction the prepaid wireless industry is taking has anything to say in the matter, then yes, we will see some new Straight Talk smartphones.

And indeed Straight Talk has been releasing new smartphones, which I think is great (more prepaid companies need to do this as well).  ST released two Android phones and there is actually a third one on the way.  The first was the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, which is a nice phone (it costs $149 with no contract).

The second is the LG Optimus Q (pictured at left), another nice Android addition to the prepaid lineup (this one costs $179 with no contract).  By the way, there is never a contract because Straight Talk is a prepaid company.  Learn more at Straight Talk’s website.

Where to Buy a Samsung Finesse Phone

You can often find Finesse phones on Amazon.com, but if you can’t find one there, you might want to look on eBay. I would caution you against buying a used Finesse r810c on ebay, but chances are you’re really only going to be able to find used phones in this model. If you have a question about using a given phone with Straight Talk, I would definitely recommend “chatting” with a representative of the company via their website chat function or support number to make sure that your phone will operate correctly.

New Androids

There’s a new Android phone available from ST.  It’s called LG Optimus Black and it’s the best phone they’ve let out of the cage yet.  We will see what they decide to do about the LG Optimus 2X, which looks pretty fierce.  Still, Black has a brilliant color screen, a 5 mp camera, and a five screen home page.  It also comes with unlimited, talk, and text, as part of the Unlimited plan.  Learn more at StraightTalk.com

It can be hard to find a decent prepaid smartphone.  But this is changing as we have recently seen that people who have never previously considered prepaid phones have changed their minds.  As this happens, we will probably see more smartphones and other higher-end phones available with pay as you go plans.

One of the current winners is the Samsung Finesse for Straight Talk.  In case you haven’t hear of it, Straight Talk is a brand of prepaid phone that has two plans that run with it.  The unlimited plan gives you unlimited use of your phone for text, voice, and web (which is very cool if you have the Finesse and the full html browser that comes with it).

The second plan is for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages.  Both are good plans.  It will always help you to compare and contrast all the available prepaid plans out there, but the ones from Straight Talk should definitely be considered.

The Samsung Finesse is the best phone that Straight Talk has, by far.  It has a large color screen and a full web browser.  You can get this phone with either one of the plans.

Straight Talk Wireless blasted onto the scene with two very low-priced and attractive prepaid phone plans and immediately knocked Boost Mobile’s Unlimited Monthly plan off of its pedestal.

Straight Talk’s two plans are very good. One is the $45 Unlimited plan that gives users unlimited use of voice, text, and web.  Obviously, this is a good option for people who use their phones a lot.

The $30 plan is good for 1,000 minutes and the same number of text messages sent and received, which is a lot.  So for people who don’t quite need an unlimited plan, this is a solid option.

The Samsung Finesse is by far the best (or at least most high-end) cell phone Straight Talk has in its cell phone catalog.  It is a touch screen smartphone–and it’s prepaid!  There are not a ton of prepaid smartphones out there, but the the Samsung Finesse for Straight Talk is one of them.

If you’re looking for prepaid service (read: cheaper cell phone service) on a higher end phone, the Samsung Finesse r810c is worth looking at.

In case you didn’t know, you can no longer purchase the Samsung Finesse from StraightTalk.com. But the phone has been replaced by two even better smart phones. The best one is the Nokia E71, a phone that in some ways looks like a Blackberry and does some of the same things. This phone will let you check your email, browse the internet, download apps, and send unlimited text messages and make unlimited phone calls. If you are in the market for a “better” phone from Straight Talk, then you might be interested in the Nokia E71 or the other recently-released phone, Nokia 6790. Straight Talk’s Two Plans

Who isn’t looking to save money anywhere they can?  Straight Talk, which is owned by TracFone (which coincidentally also owns Net10 prepaid phones), has two cheap plans.  The $30 plan is for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages.  It’s called the All You Need plan.

The Unlimited Straight Talk plan costs $45 and lets you use all the minutes and text messages you can handle.  You also get unlimited web browsing, which is a huge perk for many people these days.  Many people surf the web on their phones more than they use them to communicate.

For people who spend a lot of time online, the Samsung Finesse makes a lot of sense, since it is a touch screen phone with an html browser that is really easy to use. The Finesse is also the best phone that Straight Talk has to offer right now. It’s a smartphone and has quite a bit more high end functionality than most other prepaid phone options.

One of the weaknesses in the prepaid world is the typically poor phone selection. This is changing, however, as consumers like you and me are demanding better phones to use with our phone plans. More and more high end smartphones will be available in the prepaid world. At the moment, one of the best is the Finesse.

The New Phones

Straight Talk is doing a good job by releasing a very good selection of prepaid phones.  You can get them at good prices too.  The Nokia E5 is one of the top selections right now because it has a nice interface that gives you full web-browsing, email management, GPS voice-navigated directions, and many more cool options.  The Nokia E71 and Nokia 6790 are both nice phones too.  If you want to save some extra money, you can buy one of these two phones reconditioned for only $99 each.

The Prepaid Plans: 2 Options

If you haven’t heard yet, Straight Talk has two very attractive prepaid cell phone plans.  The Unlimited plan cost $45 and comes with unlimited service.  With this plan, customers get unlimited voice, text, and web.  In addition, you also get unlimited 411 calls and use of the Verizon wireless prepaid network.

The $30 plan grants Straight Talk users with 1,000 minutes of talk time and 1,000 text messages and 30 mb of data (for web browsing).  It’s a good option for people who may not need the more expansive unlimited Straight Talk plan.

Samsung Finesse is the best phone you can get with this service and it’s available for use with both plans.  It’s a smartphone with a touchscreen and quite a bit of functionality you may find useful.

This is sort of a side note, but I feel an overwhelming need to discuss it.  Has anyone been watching the amazing HBO series, Game of Thrones?  I love this show so much that I started reading the books by George R.R. Martin.  They are even more amazing than the show.  If you like good books and want to explore an interesting world, read Game of Thrones.  It’s amazing.  You can get all four books of the cycle at Costco for about $20, the best price I’ve seen so far.

So what happened?

I think the phone has been replaced, as such, by a new phone that MetroPCS recently added to its stable of phones, the Samsung Caliber.  MetroPCS also sells the Samsung Code, which is another smarphone, on its site.  You should also check out the Samsung Stunt, which will be offered for free for a limited amount of time.

Samsung Finesse is a very popular phone and is getting a second life of sorts on the Straight Talk Wireless prepaid plans.  It’s the best phone on that network.

The Samsung Caliber looks a little more stylish and trendy than the Finesse, however.  It boasts a 3.2″ touchscreen, customizable widget bar, a 3.0 megapixel camera, and a full html browser.  I think MetroPCS users will find all they need out of their prepaid phone in the Caliber.

Still, the Samsung Finesse will still be missed.  And for those of you who still want one, try eBay.  I’m sure they will still work with MetroPCS wireless service.

Both Straight Talk Wireless and MetroPCS have the Samsung Finesse in their phone lineups.  The phone is a little on the expensive side–but hey, it’s a smartphone!  A lot of prepaid users (and perhaps people who were skeptical of the phone selection for prepaid plans) have gravitated toward the Finesse.

It’s a very cool phone with a highly functional and brilliantly colored touchscreen.  One place where you can buy the Samsung Finesse online is on eBay.  You can sometimes find very good deals on prepaid cell phones at the site.

Why is it smart to buy a prepaid phone on eBay?  Since you don’t have to sign a contract on prepaid plans with Straight Talk or MetroPCS (or any other prepaid providers for that matter), you can use any compatible handset and just add talk time to it.
