Straight Talk has been on a veritable Android binge lately. The company with the best unlimited prepaid plan in the business has released three new Androids in the past several months including this brand new one, the ZTE Merit. The first thing that strikes me about the Merit is its size. It’s very compact but it doesn’t feel like everything is crammed into a small package by you can easily palm the phone in one hand. ZTE Merit is available with either the unlimited plan or the international unlimited plan. The ZTE Merit has a 600 mhz processor, which is pretty good for an Android at this price. You have 5 home screens, much like on an iPhone or the LG Optimus Black, another Straight Talk Android device. A 2 GB microSD card comes already installed in the ZTE Merit, but if you need more data, this phone is compatible with up to a 32 GB microSD card. The Merit was just released and is now available online at the official site.
Watch a video of ZTE Merit, which runs on 3G or wifi. It comes with a 2 gb card, but you can upgrade it if you choose. This video will show you how well the Merit plays video and how nice the camera is. Have a look if you’re considering purchasing this phone. It is surprising how nice this affordable smartphone is.

More Straight Android Phones
LG Optimus Black is currently also available on the official website. It also operates with the unlimited talk, text, and web prepaid plan. Black also has a 5 megapixel camera (with HD video recording), 5 home screens for shelving apps and widgets, and a bunch of other great features, including its amazingly thin and bright touch screen. Another recently released Straight Talk Android is the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, the first 3G ST phone to run on Verizon’s network. Watch a video review of the Proclaim below. It’s available at StraightTalk.com for $179 with the unlimited plan. There is no contract to sign and no commitments, so for a prepaid phone that runs Verizon 3G for under $200 and $45 per month for unlimited service, you’re looking at a pretty solid phone.
Get the ZTE Merit online at the official website today. Or have a look at the three other android prepaid phones currently available: Optimus Black, Samsung Proclaim, and Optimus Q. These all have their pros and cons, but overall, you will be safe choosing any of them for using on the all encompassing Straight Talk tracfone plans. I’m excited to see more Android phones on prepaid plans, and what really excites me is thinking about the incredible phones we’re going to see in two or three or even five years. There are going to be a lot of amazing prepaid phone options.
Straight Talk Offer
Net10, Tracfone, and Straight Talk all have current offers going on at their respective sites. Tracfone is giving away $10 gift certificates with purchases of any phone over $49.99. Net10 is giving away $15 with the purchase of any Android phone. Straight Talk has some pretty good deals as well on lower end phones. But if you’re been thinking about purchasing this phone or just need a really solid prepaid Android phone with a super bright screen and a slim body, then take advantage of this deal today. One interesting deal that might interest you is for the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, which is the first Straight Talk android phone. Right now, the Precedent, which runs on the unlimited plan, costs only $129 for a brand new phone–a pretty good price for this phone even though it’s far from my first choice for a prepaid android phone. Here’s a short video review of this phone to give you an idea of what it’s like in action.
Here is an “unboxing” video of the Straight Talk Merit. This shows you what you get in the box when you buy this phone.
There are always updated deals going on at the official website for Straight Talk. All you need to do in order to take advantage of them is head on over to the site and see the deals that are available in your region. Some of the phones that are available will vary from region to region because there are different service providers in different parts of the county. Since Straight Talk is what they call in the wireless business an MVNO, the company uses different networks to give its customers service. For instance, the Verizon wireless network is used in certain parts of the country and can be used with the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. If you live in an area of the United States that has no Verizon towers, then you will not find this phone on the official website. All you need to do is put in your zip code and all the current phones and offers will pop up for you. Don’t you love the internet.
ZTE Merit is a highly affordable phone, but my favorite phone of all is the LG Optimus Black. I’m a sucker for the beautiful and bright touch screen. Since it’s an android phone, this means you can download apps and games from Android marketplace. In my POV, having a great screen to use all these apps is a true luxury. It’s just a nice phone and will make you forget that it’s prepaid until you get your lower bill that is.

Does the ZTE Merit have a front-facing camera? Who makes the ZTE Merit? Is is run on by Gingerbread? Who large is the screen in inches? What size is the headphone jack? Can the keyboard be tilted sideways? Does it have a calendar that syncs to Google? Does it have an organizer? What is the difference between the Gingerbread system and any other system? Does it have Swipe where you can slide your finger to selection letters on keyboard instead of touching each letter. Thanks for any info you can give me about these things.
