Update: Since I first wrote this post months ago, there have been some significant Straight Talk phone releases, particularly in the Android area. The LG Optimus Black (pictured below) is the top dog with its 1 GHZ processor, it’s brilliant color touch screen, it’s 4GB microSD card (it supports up to 32 gigs), and it’s 5 megapixel camera. The Samsung Galaxy Proclaim is the latest Android for Straight Talk. This phone is significant because it runs on the Verizon network that Straight Talk piggybacks on in certain parts of the country. The Samsung T528G Straight Talk touch screen phone is one of the top choices from Straight Talk Prepaid. If you purchase this phone, you have two prepaid plans to choose from. One is the basic plan ($30 per month) and the other is an Unlimited plan ($45 per month). So you have options with this phone and most of the other Straight Talk phones available (except for the Nokia E71, 6790, and E5 smart phones) since you can use them with either of the two plans.

The Samsung t528G is a touch screen phone and it costs $99. With the plan you select you will add either $30 or $45 up front for the first month and then the same fee for each month you want to use the phone afterwards. There is no contract with this phone since it’s prepaid. There is also no credit check and no commitments whatsoever. If you want to use a different phone all you have to do is stop paying for the service. I love prepaid phones for this reason.
