Let’s compare and contrast these two phones so we can help you decide which phone will be the best option for you. These phones are similar in many regards, but also have distinct differences as we will discuss below.
Look and Feel: : Nokia E71 vs Nokia E5
First, these two smartphones look very similar and only small and almost insignificant details work for or against them. Both are candy bars, Blackberry-style phones with 2.36-inch LCD, 320x240px display resolution but with the lead in number of colors for E71, 16M opposed to 256K for E5. Also, while E71 is made of metal, Nokia E5 is entirely made of plastic. That does give E5 a bit less elegant feel but it’s far from a deal breaker. It still looks good and even more importantly, functions great. Then again, E71 is a bit smaller in size 4.49″ by 2.24″ by 0.39″ but it is heavier 4.48 ounces (E5 4.44 ounces), probably because of metal housing.
Nokia E5 The Front Runner in this Race
Nokia E5 is slightly better in most features. First, it has faster processor 600MHz oppose to 369MHz for E71, which provides faster navigating through the phone’s features. It also runs on Symbian v9.3 operating system, Series 60 3.2 Edition, which is one level better that E71. It has 5-megapixel camera that takes quality photos and videos while E71 has 3.2-megapixel camera. However, E71 has front camera in addition that is a very cool feature. With Skype app and reliable TMobile Edge network, you will be able to make video calls with your friends and family wherever they are.
Pictures, Video Recording, and Web Browsing
As far as storing pictures and videos are concerned as well as storing all your downloads, with E5 you can store them on phone’s 4GB microSD card that is included but if needed more, you can add up to 32GB of memory. With E71, you can expand the memory only up to 8 GB. Also, both phones are Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi capable, both support text and picture messaging as well as multiple email accounts. Both have a full HTML browsers and support 3g speeds so web browsing and downloading apps is easy.
Moreover, for many users, more importantly, access to social networking sites is provided with both smartphones. However, the difference is that with Nokia E5 you can share your taken photos and videos right away by uploading them straight from your phone on your Facebook and Twitter account.
Even though the price of these two smartphones is the same and they are quite similar, differences exist and they slightly work better for Nokia E5.

Thanks so much for the review, just one question: The E5 seems superior, however its battery life is 4.4 hrs of straight talk, and 10 hrs for the E71 – is considered an issue for the E5? Also, are both GSM phones and do they both permit MS Word, Excel, PDF files?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
