TracFone recently released a new prepaid touch screen phone, the Tracfone LG 800G. The first thing that sticks out (after the touch screen of course) is the low price. This phone is an entry level (ie, affordable and somewhat limited) phone that is good for someone who may want to maintain prepaid status but also wants to experience a touch screen phone without breaking the bank. The LG 800G is a response to a market that is looking for more advanced phones on prepaid plans. This device is not the answer yet, but it is a hint of what is to come from prepaid providers.

We will be seeing more prepaid smart phones and touch screen phones coming from these pay as you go companies. It’s already happening with Virgin’s new Android devices and Metro PCS’ Androids as well. Pretty soon, we will see a prepaid iPhone. Or I might just be getting carried away!
