Both of these phones are Straight Talk smart phones that were released by the company to be used with the unlimited Straight Talk plan on the same day.  If you’ve been waiting for the day that you can get a smart phone on a prepaid plan, then it’s a good thing for you that a lot of new phones that can do a lot more than your basic prepaid handset are being released.  T-Mobile has a prepaid Blackberry (as do some other companies), Virgin Mobile has two Android phones (midlevel Android phones, but Android phones nonetheless) and Straight Talk has the Nokia 6790 and E71 on its Unlimited plan.  In other words, there are a lot of prepaid Smart Phones out there.  Read a Nokia E71 review.

Nokia 6790 Phone

When comparing the two Straight Talk phones, I see quite a few differences between them.  The 6790 takes me back to my old T-Mobile Sidekick days, as it’s a slide-out messaging phone that has a youthful vibe to it.  It’s kind of like the EnV model phones in that regard too.  The phone has a more plastic feel than the Nokia E71, which feels more solid.  E71 is also a more mature looking, professional phone, while the Nokia 6790 feels more like a phone for a younger individual.  Both of these phones will give you the ability to browse the web although I think at this point you can’t watch youtube videos on them (I will look into this and update it as soon as I know for sure).  You will also be able to access your email accounts and or course make calls and send text messages.

The unlimited plan on which these phones are used will give you unlimited talk time and text messaging every month.  So which phone do you think is the winner between these two?  The Nokia 6790 or the Straight Talk Nokia E71?  Perhaps you’re more interested in one of the Virgin Mobile phones out there or maybe you want to go with MetroPCS?  It’s really all about doing the research and finding out which phone works for you.  I’d love to get some feedback and see how your experience has been with either one of these Straight Talk phones, since I’m pretty interested in that service.  In particular, I want to know about the web browsing aspect.  It seems that ST has one of the best plans out there, but the best thing for you to do when you’re looking for a prepaid smart phone is to look into the specifics of the plan and phone you will be using.  Always read the fine print and make sure you know what you’re getting and you know the price you’re going to pay.  Best of luck and enjoy your new smart phone.  You can find the Nokia E71 and 6790, as well as all the other Straight Talk phones including Samsung t401g and Samsung R355C, online at StraightTalk.com.

I’ve just aquired a Straight Talk Nokia E71 from Straight Talk and am enjoying the low monthly unlimited cost of $45/month.
The E71 is a really super phone, with fast web browsing, the E stands for executive range and it also has more executive functions than I think the Nokia 6790.
The mp3 and fm radio and video player is of advanced top quailty and the roaming configuration is excellent even when traveling all over the country and out the country. But Straight Talk doesn’t allow overseas calls on their plans.

The compact buttons on this phone are raised to allow for easier texting and the 3.2 mp camera takes excellent quality photo’s and has an automatic flash.
The instant messaging is great and the rest of the features on this phone are: multiple e-mail acc., free GPS (turn by turn) giving you the shortest route, 3.2mp camera, 4GB micro SD card included, bluetooth, etc.
For $200 I thought this phone totally worth the money considering you have so many features on the phone and it’s fast. In the long run for me I think you have to look at the monthly cost and I don’t think I can get much lower than what I’m paying on Straight Talk.

I got the E71 after reading a couple reviews and I have to say, i love it! It’s an awesome phone, great for emails, browsing, texting, great camera and awesome coverage with ST being on the Verizon and At&t networks. It seems to me as though the 6790 is a slightly more youthful phone- well it certainly looks that way. I just think it’s great that ST is starting to provide such great quality handsets
