Straight Talk Wireless recently released two new smartphones to be used on its Unlimited prepaid phone plan. Since the Samsung Finesse has been phased out after a brief time in the Straight Talk lineup, the two new phones are the only smartphones available with the service. The phones are the Nokia E71 and 6790.

Straight Talk Prepaid Details
Before we move on, Straight Talk is a prepaid wireless carrier supported on AT&T and Verizon’s prepaid networks. This means that you never have to sign a contract in order to use the service. You also don’t need to undergo a credit check or submit to any other sort of agreement. All you need to do is buy the phone, pay the monthly fee for the unlimited service plan, and you will be off and running with your new cell phone.
Since it debuted two years ago, Straight Talk has steadily climbed the ranks in the budget wireless world and is one of the best known prepaid brands out there. It helps that the phones are sold at Walmart locations across the country and of course that the cost is very low.
$45 for unlimited use of your phone is very affordable. The Nokia E71 has a full qwerty keypad, instant messaging, email access, voice controlled navigation (which is kind of a cool feature for the geographically-challenged), a 3.2 megapixel camera for snapping pictures or video while you’re out and about, and a 4 gigabyte microsSD card for the phone’s memory.
You can also access the Internet very easily, play music, and use Bluetooth is you have any need for these features. Since Straight Talk provides unlimited web browsing with the Nokia E71, you will probably be using the Internet browsing function quite a bit. You can also download apps from the Nokia Ovi store. The phone is wifi enabled, which means you can use free Internet in your local coffee shop or restaurant that offers Wifi.

This phone, along with the Nokia 6790, the other Straight Talk smartphone, only works with the unlimited phone plan. Since it was released a couple years ago, Straight Talk has proven to be quite competitive in price and in what it offers with its plans. Now, it looks like the company wants to compete by offering better, more high end phones. Maybe soon we will see a Straight Talk Blackberry or a Straight Talk iPhone? Well, probably not an iPhone, but I would not be surprised to see some really attractive phones in the near future.

They have expanded so their phone selection has become a lot better. I own the E71 from Nokia and it works just like a blackberry (well, it’s a little slower) and I pay half of what the average BB user pays, I’m sure of it.
I have had a LG straight talk cell and I love it. I never have to worry about getting a high cell phone bill in the mail. I recently decided that I wanted to try one of their straight talk smart phones so I got the Nokia E71. I think if I could figure out how to use it and get all the apps downloaded I would love it. Its very complicated if you have never owned one but day to day I find out how to do something new with it.
Straight Talk is Verizon & ATT. The smart phones ($45.00) plans w/Straight Talk are only on ATT. Besides not having a very good ph selection you have to use ATT if you go with their “Smart Phone”, for me that’s a negative as i can’t stand ATT.
But, even if I don’t do the web and just take the talk & text unlimited for $45.00 w/Verizon it’s still a much better plan that what I have had in the past w/ Tmobile, Cingular or ATT.

Linda – If you mean that you’re looking for a Straight Talk phone, then you can find all the available phones in your area at StraightTalk.com. I don’t know exactly which phone is the Verizon model with a red mat. I will look and see if I can find it for you.
