Prepaid wireless companies are notorious for customer service complaints.  Part of the reason for the preponderance of complaints is that negative comments are the ones that people tend to leave more often.  It’s just how it works.

The other reason is that cell phone companies in general tend to be pretty bad with customer service.  Straight Talk Wireless is trying to change that.  There have been reports (I’ve read it in a couple of places) that you can find some very good customer service and technical help at the Straight Talk Facebook page.

So if you need help with your Straight Talk prepaid phone, visit the Facebook page and see if you can remedy your problem that way.

Here’s what I found posted on Straight Talk’s wall:

We’re here to help. If you need assistance, please post your issue. We respect your privacy, so we may communicate with you directly. Bottom line: we want your issues resolved! Thanks.

So if you have a problem with Straight Talk, give this a shot.  I know that people will run into problems from time to time with their wireless provider, but it looks like Straight Talk Wireless is taking a proactive stance and using social media to try to help its customers.  This might help you solve the problem you have with your phone or service (if you do have one) faster.  A lot of companies are becoming more “social” and doing more for their customers or at least keeping in touch with them via social networking sites like Facebook.  It’s an interesting phenomenon, but at the end of the day, as customers of Straight Talk or any other company, we just want our problems solved efficiently, to our satisfaction, and without having to spend too much of our precious time trying to get help.  If it makes things faster and easier, great!  But if it is just more of the same kind of service, just on facebook instead of by phone, then that’s not much of a help.

But it looks like Straight Talk is putting in the effort to more quickly serve its customers with problems and issues that arise, and that is always a good thing.

This is a glimmer of hope.
