The newest prepaid phone to hit the Straight Talk Wireless lineup is the Samsung r355c, a very nice phone that comes contract-free and allows you to utilize the money-saving Straight Talk prepaid plans.
The Samsung r355c is what they call a “slab-style” qwerty phone. Slab style phones basically look like how you picture a BlackBerry, with a large screen on top and a full qwerty keypad on the bottom half of the phone, if it was sitting in the palm of your hand. In fact, this phone is nick-named the qwerty since the keypad is such a crucial part of the phone.

I really like this style of phone, as I think the layout makes it really easy to use your phone and do what you want with the full keypad. Slider phones often have awkward keypads and don’t seem quite as accessible.
It’s nice to have everything sitting there open in front of you–this is how the Samsung r355c for Straight Talk is designed.
This Samsung model has the classic “smartphone” look, which means it is stylish, sleek, and actually a lot thinner than you would expect from a prepaid phone.
If you don’t know much about prepaid phones, then you should know that the Samsung r355c stands out since many of the phones avaialable on pay as you go plans (another term for prepaid) are pretty low-end.
The Samsung r355c costs $129 and you can start using the phone with no contract to sign or any commitments of any kind. It is up to you which Straight Talk prepaid plan you choose.

For $30, you get 1,000 minutes of talk time, 1,000 text messages, and a good amount of web browsing (30 mb). Clearly, 1,000 minutes is a LOT of time and if you don’t use anywhere near that much you probably will still be saving on your bill.
If you use your phone a lot in any given month, you may opt for the $45 Unlimited plan, which allows you to use your phone as much as you want, as the name implies.
The Samsung r355c is suited up with a 1.3 megapixel camera, which definitely isn’t the best in the business, but will capture clear pictures for you on the go.
It has bluetooth functionality, a music player, a web browser (which is key since Straight Talk has good web browsing coverage on both plans), and a MicroSD card slot for storing music and pictures.
Another good thing on the r355c is the keypad. It facilitates easy typing and has just enough click to be satisfying to use and to let you know that you have indeed pushed a button and it has responded. You can’t make any shortcuts from the keypad, which is something people seem to like to do, but that’s not a huge deal.
Overall, this phone is a very good option for your Straight Talk prepaid plan. If you order the phone online, you get free shipping to your home.

does the it have T9? and if not is there anyway to get it???
This phone looks exactly like a bb. It looks like the functionality is close. I’m guessing it doesn’t have bbm haha, but the Straight Talk prices they listing for the service make the phone a viable competitor. I’m sure the phone has T9, but I don’t see why you would need it with a full keypad. This is a pretty sick deal actually, and I’m thinking about changing my phone soon, and I may have just found my replacement.
This phone is the junkiest phone I have ever had. When people call you, they cannot hear you at all. You can hear them but they really cant hear you at all. It cost $130.00 and it is not worth it at all to spend. Straight Talk though I love the network you can go to another state and you can still dial out. Very good reception overall. $45 a month with free text and calls is why I’m still sticking to it. Trying to buy the nokia surge. Please let me know what’s going on with that phone before I spend some more money.
I think you might be confusing this phone with another one. The samsung r355c only costs $69.99 not $130.

I am trying to go from ATT and like others, before I change I want to make sure it works. My daughter has Tmobile, she visited me one day and her phone didn’t work where I live which is 20 miles from the nearest town. But we have a ATT towel little better than a mile from where we are. So I want to see if the service works before I get it. But it sounds good.
