Did you know that the first Straight Talk Android phone is out now. Read a review of the Samsung Precedent Android phone here. This phone has a 3.2 inch touch screen, a decent camera, but best of all you can manage your email, browse the web, and even download apps from the Android Marketplace.

The Droid Eris really does not suck. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The Droid Eris is a very good Droid phone with a lot of attractive functionality–especially considering the pricetag.
By the way, the current price tag of the Droid Eris is FREE. In addition, you also get $50 in cash when you buy the Eris from LetsTalk. I like LetsTalk because they’re always throwing in little incentives to attract your business. Hey, if you’re going to make it worth my while, then I’ll do business with you.
So for the total of -$50 (meaning you earn that sum when you start a new or continuing Verizon Wireless contract), you get a solid Android phone with a nice touch screen and HTC’s Sense user interface.
I love this deal.
5 Reasons Droid Eris Doesn’t Suck
HTC’s Simple, Elegant Design
I love the unassuming look of the Droid Eris. The “rubberized” protective coating is a welcome feature too and helps keep the phone in pristine condition and free from scratches. A scratched up phone begins to feel and look older than it is. Eris will last.
“Sense” User Interface
You get seven home screens you can toggle between, each of which you can populate with icons, widgets, and shortcuts. This is true customization!
Access to Open Source Android Market Apps
Sick of all your iPhone friends talking about their cool apps? Get access to Android Marketplace and turn your free Droid Eris into your own personal concierge.
Did I Mention this High End Phone is Being Offered for Free Plus a $50 Rebate On Top?
Sometimes, the price is right. Just ask Bob Barker.
Easy Social Media and Internet Access
Droid Eris makes it easy for you to access Facebook, Twitter, and all your Google apps like gmail, maps, and Youtube. Web browsing is easy as pie.
Okay, so after re-reading this post a few months after I initially wrote and published it, I now see that the Droid Eris really did suck. And it sucked really bad. It was a horrible misstep for Verizon and I’m glad that no one bought it.
