Finesse r810c Update: As you may know by now, the Samsung Finesse r810c is no longer available with Straight Talk’s Wireless prepaid plans. But…there are three new smart phones that have replaced the obsolete touch screen phone–and there’s a 4th phone on the way. The three new phones are the Nokia E71, Nokia E5 smart phone, and the Nokia E71 (very similar in some way to E5). The fourth phone, which a lot of people are really excited about, is the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, which as you may know is an Android phone. That’s right, there is a Straight Talk Android phone coming soon! This is a big development. The Nokia E5 is depicted below.

The Samsung Finesse touchscreen phone has received very good reviews from online publications like cNet.
The smartphone is currently available on the Straight Talk wireless prepaid plans. The addition of the Finesse to Straight Talk’s $30 and $45 plans has brought a little bit of class to the cell phone lineup offered by the company.
**Update 10/2/2010: The Finesse is no longer available online from StraightTalk.com. The new phone that seems to be replacing it is the Samsung R355c, a more modern, highly functional phone with a full keypad. Read more about the Samsung R355C. See an image of this phone below.
Prepaid plans offer suffer from poor phone choice, so this is a step in the right direction.
cNet’s cell phone editors rated Samsung Finesse (which also ran on MetroPCS’ prepaid plans) a 4.5 out of 5 stars, which is equivalent to a “very good” rating. It has historically been a very popular phone, getting great reviews from Metro PCS users and Straight Talk users alike. Critics have been kind to this phone too. It’s definitely a fan favorite.
They called the phone good-looking, with a very responsive touchscreen, EVDO, GPS, and a great (full html) web browser. They pointed out, however, that the phone does not have wi-fi or an accelerometer.
The average user also rated the phone a 4.5 out of 5 (but who knows what that really means).
So far, Straight Talk has had some early success with the well-recieved smartphone and it has won over new recruits into the prepaid world who may not have considered it before since they desire better phone choice. Finesse offers a good option for users who may need more out of their cell phone but still want the cost-savings of one of Straight Talk’s very affordable plans.
This is a review of the MetroPCS version of this phone–but it’s exactly the same phone so it will give you a good idea of the Straight Talk Finesse.
